DREAM with STEAM 2023 Summer Program

STEAM to Careers took place over the course of 16 weeks during the Spring semester and was divided into two cycles. During these two cycles we served 75 students and of those 75 students 16 of our students applied for the Dream with STEAM summer program. These 16 students participated in a 4-week paid exploration program that consisted of visiting different employers in San Diego County twice a week, personal and professional development, and creating a media project that represented their journey during the 4 weeks. Over the course of the 4 weeks students were able to visit Kura Oncology, Rady Children’s Hospital, PCL Construction, SDG&E, The Beckman Conservation Center at the Safari Park, and Solar Turbines. Students also made LinkedIn profiles to develop their networking skills while on the field trips and connect with these professionals in the future. Students also took a resume building workshop and financial literacy workshop with First Citizen’s Bank during their Career Exploration days. At the end of the program the students had a celebration with their families and received a $1,300 check for their participation and completion of the summer program!
