The CHP Start Smart Program is an approximately 1.5 to 2 hour long class that covers the following topics:
-Graduated Driver’s License Program (GDL), which covers the provisions of teenage driver’s licenses
-Distracted Driving, including the dangers of Texting/Talking while driving
-Speeding
-A vehicles safety restraint system and airbags, the importance of wearing a seat belt
-DUI/Impaired Driving, including Alcohol and Drugs
The Start Smart program is taught to nearly 20,000 students/parents every single year in San Diego County alone. The additional benefit to both students/parents attending the Start Smart program is that each student receives a certificate of completion that many car insurance company’s honor for teenage driver discounts.
Escondido High School requires students to take this course before they can get a permit to park on campus.
Class will be 2/29 6-8pm .
