Week 2 Virtual Learning Assignment in Google Classroom

Week 2 Virtual Learning Assignment

Good morning, Scholars! I enjoyed talking to the few of you who made it to my office hours last week. I realize that they may have been a little early for some of you and have decided to move them to 12pm - 1pm on Wednesdays instead. If that conflicts with anything you have going on, please let me know and we can set up a time to talk/meet individually. That being said, I hope you and your families are healthy and in good spirits. Please let me know if you need anything and if your situation changes.

So... Week 2... Let's Go!
Step 1: Watch my prerecorded video.
Step 2: Access the PowerPoint for your reference.
Step 3: Try the assignment.
Step 4: Come to Office Hours with questions or needing help.

If you didn't do last week's assignment, no worries. You can still go to the website: https://climatecommunication.yale.edu/about/projects/global-warmings-six-americas/

Check out the website. We'll be using this site as the basis for our essay.
Good luck, scholars.

Assignment 3.7 in Google Classroom

Assignment 3.7

Good Morning, all.
While I am out sick today, I have three tasks for you to complete in-class.
1) Finish any outstanding work that you may need to complete: catching up on your reading, assignment 3.6 that we worked on Tuesday, or anything that is due/past due on Google Classroom.
2) Submit here, a list of 10 important quotes from “Things Fall Apart,” chapters 1-8. The importance of these quotes is determined by you. You will be using these as moments to dissect the scenes they come from as well as the characterization of those who spoke them. Make sure you cite who says them, even if it is the Narrator and the page number.
3) On the same document, please complete Activity 3.7 from your textbook (pg.221). Please submit these documents separately.
4) If you have time… Next week, you will be conducting research on the current geo-political state of Nigeria. Go ahead and start a google slideshow/ppt. presentation with important (as defined by you) imagery for this later presentation.

Due:

Activity 3.6 (page 219-220) in Google Classroom

Activity 3.6 (page 219-220)

For submission, you will only need
1) a group document that fills in the chart of Okonkwo's Achievements and Status compared to his Negative Traits and Actions (please shoot for a minimum of 10 for each category: Positive and Negative.
2) Ignore the second activity of a presentation. We may revisit this, but let's first see what you are all coming up with.
3) an independent document (handwritten to be turned in today: 1/28/2020 that is a paragraph of at least 7 sentences, providing a claim, using relevant evidence and analysis in answering the questions: "Is it common for powerful leaders to have flawed characters? Why/Why not? How is does this question play out in TFA?"

Finding Archetypes within folktales. in Google Classroom

Finding Archetypes within folktales.

For the Assignment this weekend...
Please go to the website listed below.
Pick any one Folktale to read.
In one paragraph, submitted here, tell me about an Archetype that you've found within the story. What makes it an Archetype? How do you know? Is there more than one? Do they surprise you? Try to explore the qualities of the Archetype base upon our discussion in-class as well as the definition of the Academic Word:

"Archetype" (noun). Definition: a very typical example of a certain person or thing. -AND/OR- a recurrent (shows up a lot) symbol or motif (theme or pattern of events) in literature, art, or mythology.
