Good morning, Scholars! I enjoyed talking to the few of you who made it to my office hours last week. I realize that they may have been a little early for some of you and have decided to move them to 12pm - 1pm on Wednesdays instead. If that conflicts with anything you have going on, please let me know and we can set up a time to talk/meet individually. Please go to the Six Americas website and copy/paste into a Google doc, 10 pieces of evidence (what ever that means to you: text, graphs, data, images.) We are compiling (gathering) evidence to use in our essay.

Please go to page 238 of your Springboard text and complete the assignment at the end of the page under "Writing to Sources: Explanatory Text."
This assignment is simply a single page essay (double-spaced) that shows me your ability to construct an Introduction with a Claim, your basic usage of Textual Evidence and a Conclusion. If you hand-write this essay, please make sure that I am able to read it and take a good photo of it to submit to this posting.

Good Morning, all.
While I am out sick today, I have three tasks for you to complete in-class.
1) Finish any outstanding work that you may need to complete: catching up on your reading, assignment 3.6 that we worked on Tuesday, or anything that is due/past due on Google Classroom.
2) Submit here, a list of 10 important quotes from “Things Fall Apart,” chapters 1-8. The importance of these quotes is determined by you. You will be using these as moments to dissect the scenes they come from as well as the characterization of those who spoke them. Make sure you cite who says them, even if it is the Narrator and the page number.
3) On the same document, please complete Activity 3.7 from your textbook (pg.221). Please submit these documents separately.
4) If you have time… Next week, you will be conducting research on the current geo-political state of Nigeria. Go ahead and start a google slideshow/ppt. presentation with important (as defined by you) imagery for this later presentation.

For submission, you will only need
1) a group document that fills in the chart of Okonkwo's Achievements and Status compared to his Negative Traits and Actions (please shoot for a minimum of 10 for each category: Positive and Negative.
2) Ignore the second activity of a presentation. We may revisit this, but let's first see what you are all coming up with.
3) an independent document (handwritten to be turned in today: 1/28/2020 that is a paragraph of at least 7 sentences, providing a claim, using relevant evidence and analysis in answering the questions: "Is it common for powerful leaders to have flawed characters? Why/Why not? How is does this question play out in TFA?"
